NEW ORLEANS - A female deckhand has filed a lawsuit against her employer seeking more than $1.25 claiming the unseaworthiness of the vessel caused her to fall down the stairs and fracture her leg.
Hollie Vaughn filed suit against American Cruise Lines Inc. on Nov. 5 in federal court in New Orleans.
Vaughn states that on July 26, 2012 she suffered disabling injuries when she was ordered to bring in dry storage from dock and she fell down the stairs. She suffered fractures to her leg, ankle, and foot, the suit claims.
The defendant is accused of negligence and of the unseaworthiness of the passenger vessel the Queen of the Mississippi.
The plaintiff is asking for an award of $1.25 million in damages for physical and mental pain and suffering, physical scarring and disability, loss of wage earning capacity, maintenance, cure, attorney’s fees, court costs, and interest.

U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon is assigned to the case.
