McAllister's Deli sued by woman over slip and fall

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a chain restaurant for injuries she claims to have received on its premises.

Elizabeth Theriot filed suit against Harrah's New Orleans management Company and McAllister's Deli in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Oct. 1. Theriot claims that she visited McAllister's Deli as a patron on Oct. 1, 2011 and that as she was walking across the floor she stepped in a wet and slippery substance and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges that she suffered serious injuries in the fall.

The defendant is accused of failing to remove hazards, failing to warn of a dangerous condition, failing to inspect the premises, permitting a hazardous conditionto exist, permitting a foreseeable danger, failing to post warning signs, failing to remedy defect, creating a hazardous condition, failing to have adequate policies in place to prevent injuries and failing to follow the relevant policies and procedures in place.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering, physical disability and medical expenses.

Theriot is represented by attorney Shannon R. Bourgeois of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
