Brother's Food Mart sued by woman who slipped and fell near ice coolers

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local gas station for injuries she claims to have received in a fall on the premises.

Emelia A. Wilfred filed suit against Ziad O. Mousa, Brothers Expressway, Inc., Brothers Food Mart and Mesa Underwriters Specialty Insurance Comapany in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 26. Wilfred claims she was shopping at the Brother's Food Mart located at 9000 Westbank Expressway in Westwego when she was walking between two coolers filled with ice and slipped and fell to the ground. The plaintiff alleges that she suffered severe and traumatic injuries.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises, failing to properly inspect the premises, failing to warn of a hazardous condition, failing to properly supervise employees and failing to warn of the hazard.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses and pain and suffering.

Wilfred is represented by Metairie-based attorney Thomas E. Campbell.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Patrick J. McCabe.
