GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local fitness club for injuries she allegedly received after falling in a sloping hallway.

Lindsi R. Bordelon filed suit against Ochsner Clinic Foundation, Elmwood Fitness Center and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 4. Bordelon claims that in May she was walking in the Elmwood Fitness Center located at 1200 S. Clearview Parkway when she suddenly fell in a sloping hallway in the establishment. The plaintiff alleges that she received serious and progressing injuries to her left ankle, right elbow, right knee and lumber spine due to the fall.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain a reasonably safe place for its members, failing to take necessary measures to protect the safety of visitors, failing to repair a hazard, failing to properly maintain its premises, failing to warn of the danger and failing to take step to avoid the incident.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, mental expenses and medical expenses.

Bordelon is represented by Edward J. Womac of New Orleans-based Edward J. Womac & Associates, LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Ross P. LaDart.

Case no. 720-802.
