GRETNA – A Harvey-based nail salon is being sued by a woman who claims she was injured in fall on its premises.

Tania Phillips filed suit against U.S. Nails, CAN, Continental Casualty Company, American Casualty Company of Reading, Pennsylvania, Trang Thi Thanh Nguyen and Lucas Daniel Nguyen in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 5. Phillips claims she had just finished receiving a pedicure at the U.S. Nails located at 2010 Woodmere Blvd. in Harvey when she was instructed to stand to the side of the chair and stepped on a pile wet towels. The plaintiff alleges that the towels made her slippers wet and when she went to walk she slipped and fell to the floor.

The defendant is accused of creating a slippery and dangerous condition by leaving wet towels on the floor, mopping the floors with towels, leaving wet towels on the floor, allowing customers to walk about in the store, failing to warn petitioner of the wet towels, permitting a dangerous condition to exist, failing to maintain its premises in a safe manner, failing to properly maintain the area where patrons would be walking, failing to warn visitors and patrons of the danger, failing to take proper action to correct the dangerous condition, failing to properly inspect and supervise the premises to determine dangerous condition and failing to adequately protect the personal safety of pedestrian customers.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, me4ntal anguish, pain and suffering, wage loss, transportation expense, loss of use, loss of enjoyment of life and loss of earning capacity.
