GRETNA – A Louisiana-based construction company is suing its insurer over a legal insurance claim it was allegedly wrongfully denied.
C & G Construction of Louisiana, Inc. filed suit against North American Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 5. C & G claims North American Insurance Company denied an insurance claim on a legal judgment it faced.
The plaintiff alleges it was obligated to pay for property damages stemming from a 2004 case in which it assisted a man who was renovating his home. After the renovations were completed C & G Construction says it was sued by the homeowner when a portion of the residence began to shift resulting in separated floors and cracked walls. The plaintiff claims it paid $31,270.33 for the judgment and that the defendant owes that amount plus other expenses.
Damages are sought for in the amount of $31,270.33, a penalty of 50 percent of the amount owed and attorney’s fees and all costs the plaintiff bore during the previous lawsuit.
C & G Construction of Louisiana, Inc. is represented by Thomas M. Young of Metairie-based Hebbler & Giordano, LLC.
