GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local hospital for injuries she claims to have received in a trip on a raised piece of concrete in front of the building.
Kathleen Comellas filed suit against Jefferson Parish Hospital Service District No. 2, Parish of Jefferson State of LA, East Jefferson General Hospital and the Parish of Jefferson in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 9. Comellas claims she was walking outside of the hospital and tripped on a raised piece of concrete and fell to the ground. The plaintiff alleges that she was injured in the fall.
The defendant is accused of allowing a raised sidewalk to interfere with pedestrian traffic, posing a hazard to pedestrian traffic, failing to maintain even sidewalks and failing to place a caution sign in the area of the hazard.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, emotional stress and strain, loss of enjoyment of life and loss of earning capacity.
Comellas is represented by attorneys Darleen M. Jacobs and Kenny Charbonnet of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
