GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local retailer for injuries she alleges to have received in a fall on its premises.
Zulma Compton filed suit against Wal-Mart Stores Incorporated in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 20. Compton claims she was entering the a local Wal-Mart at 6 a.m. in November 2012 when she immediately stepped on a wet and slippery floor and fell to the ground. The plaintiff alleges she received injuries to her neck, upper back, lower back, elbow subsequent headaches, right and left hip related pain and nerve pain in the left calf.
The defendant is accused of not taking reasonable steps to remove dangerous and hazardous conditions and not posting signs or other devices warning patrons of the hazards.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, permanent disability, loss of wages, medical costs, lost wages and loss of earning capacity.
Compton is represented by attorney David R. Arden of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Robert M. Murphy.
