GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local grocery store for a multitude of injuries she claims to have received in a fall on their premises.
Tiffany Barrette filed suit against Winn-Dixie Louisiana in the 24th Judicial District Court. Barrette claims she was shopping at the Winn-Dixie located at 5901 Airline Hwy. in Metairie when she slipped on a foreign substance in the dairy aisle and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges that she suffered personal injuries to her right knee, lower back, neck, discs and shoulder.
The defendant is accused of failing to keep the floor free and clear of defects which create a hazardous and dangerous condition, failing to correct a dangerous condition, failing to exercise reasonable care to keep the floor reasonably safe, failing to properly inspect the floor, failing to implement reasonable safety procedures and failing to post signs to restrict access.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, transportation expenses, loss of insurability, lost wages, loss of wage earning capacity, loss of fringe benefits, multiple physical injuries, pain and suffering and mental anguish.
