NEW ORLEANS – The mother of a New Orleans student is suing an unknown driver after the girl was allegedly injured in a hit and run accident in her high school’s bus on the way back from a cheerleading competition.
Aisha Faulkner, on behalf of her minor child, filed suit against an unknown driver, Warren Easton Charter High School, Warren Easton Charter Foundation, Orleans Parish Schools, Orleans Parish School Board, Orleans Parish School Board Transportation and their insurers in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Dec. 3.
Faulkner claims her daughter was riding in a bus traveling on I-10 on the way back from Lake Charles when an unknown driver ran into the rear of the bus. The plaintiff alleges her daughter received bodily injuries in the incident.
The defendant is accused of failing to see what should have been seen, failing to maintain proper lookout, failing to maintain proper control of vehicle and careless and reckless operation of a vehicle. The alleged liability of the school system in the incident was not listed in the filing.
An unspecified amount of damages is sought for bodily injury and extreme pain and suffering.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
