Chef Menteur Discount Zone sued over slip and fall

NEW ORLEANS- A Chef Menteur gas station is being sued by a woman claiming she fell on the premises.

Peggy Lee Wiley filed a lawsuit against Chef Menteur Discount Zone and its insurer in the Orleans Parish Central District Court. Wiley alleges she suddenly and without warning slipped and fell backwards to the ground sustaining injury as a result of an accumulation of water on the gas station's floor.

The defendant is accused of failure to properly maintain equipment, failure to maintain area traversed by customers, failure to warn patrons and failure to observe the hazardous condition.

An unspecified amount is sought for physical pain, medical expenses, loss of earnings and mental anguish.

The plaintiff is represented by Robert J. Caluda of Metairie.

This case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.

Case no. 2012-10967.
