Marla Livingston, a former employee of a Louisiana medical center, has filed a lawsuit alleging workplace discrimination and retaliation. The complaint was lodged on April 11, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana against Morehouse Community Medical Centers, Inc., doing business as CommuniHealth Services.

Livingston's legal battle began after she accepted a position as a Patient Access Clerk at the West Monroe High School CHS Clinic in February 2023. She claims that soon after starting her job, she was subjected to sexual harassment by her co-workers. According to the complaint, Livingston endured sexually explicit comments and pranks that led to severe embarrassment and anxiety. Despite filing a formal complaint about this behavior on November 7, 2024, she alleges that the medical center failed to take any corrective action against those involved.

The situation escalated when Livingston was terminated from her position on January 29, 2025. She contends that this dismissal was retaliatory in nature due to her prior complaint about harassment. Livingston points out that she had not received any negative performance reviews or disciplinary actions before her termination and had even been given positive feedback and salary increases during her tenure. The only reason provided for her dismissal was that she was "not a good fit for the position," which she argues is unjustified.

Livingston's lawsuit cites violations of federal law under 42 U.S.C. § 2000e-3(a), which prohibits employment discrimination based on sex and retaliation against employees who report such conduct. Following her termination, Livingston filed a complaint with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which issued a Notice of Right to Sue on March 13, 2025.

In her legal filing, Livingston seeks various forms of relief from the court. She is asking for compensation for lost wages and benefits, emotional distress damages, punitive damages, attorney’s fees, and other related costs. Additionally, she requests reinstatement or front pay in lieu of reinstatement if deemed appropriate by the court.

Representing Marla Livingston are attorneys Michael L. DuBos (23944), Adam R. Karamanis (39544), and Benjamin M. DuBos (41226) from Breithaupt, DuBos & Wolleeson LLC based in Monroe, Louisiana. The case has been assigned Case ID: 3:25-cv-00481 but details regarding judges have not been specified.
