GRETNA – A resident of a local housing authority is suing after suffering injuries when a chair rolled out from under her.

Wanda J. Alexander filed suit against the Jefferson Parish Housing Authority in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 20.

Alexander claims the incident occurred at Jefferson Parish Housing Authority’s main office in Marrerro while she was signing a rental agreement. The plaintiff alleges she received injuries to her buttocks, head and back as a result of the fall.

The defendant is accused of breaching a legally imposed duty to maintain safe premises, failing to provide safe accommodations, failing to provide a reasonably stationary chair for the public, negligently placing a rolling chair on a ceramic tile floor and failing to remedy an unreasonably dangerous condition.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for the plaintiff’s injuries.

Alexander is represented by Matthew M. Livaccari of New Orleans-based Law Offices of William S. Vincent Jr.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.

Case no. 722-284.
