GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish couple is suing a local pest control company for allegedly failing to stop a termite infestation in their home.
Sarah M. and Kevin M. Gennusa filed suit against H&M Pest Control Corp. and Herman K. Mancuso in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 4.
The Gennusas claim they contracted H&M Pest Control to provide termite treatment at their home. They allege that the defendants neglected to treat an expansion crack in one of their brick and concrete staircases and that after the treatment the plaintiffs found termites and termite damage in their home.
The defendant is accused of failing to properly treat the home, failing to see the expansion crack, failing to properly treat the steps leading to the home, failing to properly treat the ground under the steps leading to the home for termites, failing to properly train employees, failing to properly inspect the home and failing to see what should have been seen.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for costs of repairing the termite damage, mental pain and suffering, diminution in value of home, increased cost of having another pest control company properly treat their home and the increased cost associated with procuring another termite treatment contract.
Kevin M. Gennusa of Metairie-based Gennusa, Piacun & Ruli is representing himself and his wife in the case.
The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
Case no. 722-639.
