GRETNA – A St. John the Baptist Parish man is suing his employer for injuries he claims to have received on the job when he was struck in the head with a piece of metal.
James Sistrunk, and wife Susan, filed suit Jan. 15 against Dake Corporation and JSJ Corporation in the 24th Judicial District Court. Sistrunk claims he was operating a 150 ton hydraulic press attempting to push a shaft through a metal housing when part of the shaft broke away and struck him in the head. The plaintiff alleges he received serious injuries to his head, back, neck, shoulders and psyche in the accident.
The defendant is accused of allowing a defective hydraulic press to be used, not placing a protective barrier in front of the press operator, failing to provide warning of the inherent dangers of the hydraulic press during reasonable and anticipated us and allowing the use of the press although its operation as intended presented a unreasonable danger.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, pain and suffering, emotional distress, mental anguish, permanent disability, disfigurement, wage loss and loss of consortium.
Sistrunk is represented by attorney Barry J. Landry of Reserve.
The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
Case no. 722-910.
