Road Home Corp. accused of wrongful destruction of property

NEW ORLEANS – A Tangipahoa Parish couple is suing the Road Home Corp. for damages stemming from allegedly attempting to nullify a home sale.

Theresa Doucette wife of/and Alvin Joseph Doucette Jr. filed a lawsuit against Road Home Corp. in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Jan. 14.

The couple asserts that after an error in contract purported two of the their properties with all the improvements thereon, instead of one, they suffered the irreparable damage of having the two-story house located on the property not to be included in the sale destroyed as result of demolition efforts ordered by defendants.

The defendant is accused of wrongful destruction of property.

An unspecified amount is sought for the value of the improvements which were destroyed, plus emotional damages for the non-pecuniary losses suffered due to the destruction of the property.

Steven M. Spiegel of Madisonville will represent the Doucette’s in court.

This case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
