NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local casino after allegedly sustaining an injury while gambling there.
Patsy Lang filed a lawsuit against Jazz Casino Company LLC, commonly known as Harrah’s, in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Jan. 22.
Lang asserts that while gambling at the defendant’s establishment the door of a gambling machine suddenly popped open and struck her left knee causing physical injury.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain a safe machine and premises for patrons of its business, allowing unsafe gambling machines to be located in its premises for use by guests and failing to maintain the machines.
An unspecified amount is sought for serious injuries, physician’s bills, medical costs and pain and suffering.
Douglas L. Uzee Jr. of Marrero-based Uzee & Richard will represent the plaintiff.
This case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
