Southern University at New Orleans campus visitor claims slip and fall

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local university and its board of supervisors claiming she fell on the premises of the university and sustained serious bodily injury.

Yalounda Robertson filed a lawsuit against Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) and Board of Supervisors Southern University A&M College and the State of Louisiana in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Feb. 5.

Robertson claims that while she was an invited guest on the defendant’s campus she stepped off a sidewalk located adjacent to the administration building and fell into a hole causing her to sustain painful physical and mental injuries.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly maintain the property in a reasonably safe condition, failure to warn guest of the existing dangers and allowing a defective condition to exist after proper and constructive notice.

An unspecified amount is sought for pain and suffering, permanent physical damage, loss of enjoyment of life, economic damages and medical expenses.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Pierre F. Gaudin of Gretna.

This case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
