Rouse’s sued by woman over slip and fall

Rouses

GRETNA – A New Orleans woman is suing a local supermarket for injuries she claims to have received in a slip and fall.

Shelia G. Westbrook filed suit against Rouse’s Enterprises LLC, Rouse’s Supermarkets and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 15. Westbrook claims she was shopping at the Rouse’s located at 2900 Veterans Blvd. in New Orleans when she slipped in a gel-like substance when walking down and aisle and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges she was injured in the fall.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises in a safe condition, failing to have adequate inspection and cleanup procedures in effect and possessing hazards that would provide damage to customers, maintaining an inherently dangerous condition, permitting an unsafe condition to exist after reasonable notice, failing to warn customer of defective or unsafe conditions and failing to promulgate proper safety rules and regulations.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain, suffering, mental anguish, loss of life’s enjoyment, medical expenses and loss of earning capacity.

Westbrook is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Lee. W. Rand.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robert A. Pitre Jr.

Case no. 723-857.
