River Ridge apartment complex sued by man who claims he was injured in stair collapse

GRETNA – A man who was moving furniture at a local apartment complex is suing after he was allegedly injured when a stair collapsed below him.

Michael Dow filed suit against Liberty Surplus Insurance Corporation, 1st Lake Properties, Clearwater Creek Apartments, Clearwater Properties LLC and Clearwater Creek Apartments in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 15.

Dow claims he was moving furniture up a set of stairs at Clearwater Creek Apartments located at 615 Elmwood Park Boulevard in River Ridge when one of the stairs collapsed beneath him. The plaintiff alleges he was injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of allowing a dangerous condition to exist on the premises, failing to warn the petitioner, failing to take proper action to correct the defect, failing to properly inspect the premises to determine the dangerous condition, failing to keep the premises in proper repair and improper management and supervision of the premises.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and suffering, wage loss, transportation expense, loss of use, loss of enjoyment of life and loss of earning capacity.

Dow is represented by Robert P. Charbonnet of the Metairie-based Charbonnet Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
