GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man is suing the local outlet of a national hardware store chain for injuries he claims to have received in a fall.
Jose Luis Guity filed suit against Home Depot USA Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court.
Guity claims he was a patron at the Home Depot located at 2625 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Kenner when he was entering the store for the third time after going out to his car two times before he slipped and fell in dangerous substance on the floor. The plaintiff alleges a Home Depot employee assisted him and requested through a handheld radio that an ambulance be sent. Guity asserts that he remained on the floor until the ambulance arrived.
The defendant is accused of failing to keep its aisles and floors free of a dangerous substance, failing to post warning signs concerning dangerous and hazardous conditions and failing to inspect its premises for hazards.
Damages in excess of $50,000 is sought for permanent bodily injuries, medical expenses, pain and suffering, pain and suffering and emotional distress.
