Harvey Honore Construction Company accused of substandard elevation work

4381206 1

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man is suing a local construction company and two other companies allegedly responsible for performing substandard work on his property.

Charles Stalkner filed a lawsuit against Harvey Honore Construction Company LLC, Coastal Shoring LLC, Kinsale Insurance Company and H.C. Engineering Inc. in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on March 12.

Stalkner claims the defendants performed improper work with deficient engineering plans and defective workmanship on his home resulting in damages such as separations between the home and the new piers intended to serve as the elevated foundation of the home, dropping of the floors, a bowed look to the entire home, interior cracks and crevices in the walls and joints between the walls and floors and instability of the floors in the home.

The defendants are accused of commencing elevation of the home without sufficient engineering plans, failing to complete the work in a good workmanlike manner free from all defects, undertaking the elevation job without the necessary skill, efficiency or knowledge and breach of contract.

The plaintiff is seeking damages sufficient to compensate for the cost to demolish and rebuild Stalkner’s Mazant Street home, the cost to properly complete the elevation project and associated renovations, costs for temporary repairs, additional living expenses/loss of use of the family home, inconvenience and diminution of property value.

Richard M. Morgain of Metairie-based Lestelle & Lestelle will represent plaintiff.

This case has been assigned to Division H Judge Michael G. Bagneris.

Case no. 2013-2433.
