GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local grocery store over injuries she allegedly received on the store's premises.

Gertrude Joseph filed suit against Supervalu Inc. and Save-A-Lot in the 24th Judicial District Court on March. 21.

Joseph claims she was shopping at the Save-A-Lot at 601 Terry Parkway in Gretna when she slipped and fell in a puddle of water near the entrance of the store.

The defendant is accused of creating and failing to remedy a hazard, failing to warn the plaintiff of a danger, failing to post any warning signs, failing to provide adequate supervision over their employees, failing to properly maintain and clean the premises, failing to train and supervise their employees and causing plaintiff’s injuries.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, drug expenses and loss of income.

Joseph is represented by attorney Morris H. Hyman of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.

Case no. 725-140.
