GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a Harahan Applebee's after she was allegedly severely injured after slipping in oil on the floor.

Sylvia Parker filed suit against Southern River Restaurants LLC, Applebee’s and Franchise Risk Solutions in the 24th Judicial District Court on March 26.

Parker claims that she was a patron at the Applebee’s located at 1200 S. Clearview Parkway in Harahan when she slipped in oil and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges that she received severe injuries to her neck, back and knees in the fall. Parker asserts that no sign was placed in the area where she fell indicating that there was a substance on the floor.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises in a safe condition, failing to warn plaintiff, failing to adequately inspect the premises and failing to meet the general standard of care.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental pain, emotional pain, loss of enjoyment of life, permanent physical disability, disfigurement, inconvenience, statutory expenses, legal expenses, court costs and attorney fees.

Parker is represented by Scot L. Labourdette of New Orleans-based Labourdette Law Firm LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.

Case no. 725-236.
