GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man is suing a riverboat casino in Harvey claiming he received food poisoning from a meal he ate there.
Raymond P. Howard filed suit against Louisiana A-1 Gaming a Louisiana Partnership in Commendam and Boomtown Belle Casino Westbank in the 24th Judicial District Court on March 26.
Howard claims when he was a patron at the Boomtown Belle Casino located at 4132 Peters Road in Harvey on May 8, 2012, he ate jambalaya at the casino’s buffet and became immediately ill suffering from sharp pains in his stomach, headaches and vomiting. The plaintiff alleges he received treatment in the emergency room at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank and followed up with care at the Westbank Healthcare Center. Howard asserts the cause of his illness was the food served at the Boomtown Belle Casino buffet.
The defendant is accused of strict liability for serving adulterated food and improperly maintaining its buffet.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical bills, extreme pain, emotional anguish and mental distress.
Howard is represented by attorney Michael L. Mullin of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
