GRETNA – A New Orleans doctor is suing a Jefferson Parish medical group for allegedly reimbursing him after two paychecks they issued to him were stolen and cashed by a third party.

Dr. Jeffrey Brumberger filed suit against Gerry A. Cvitanovich M.D., Keith J. LeBlanc and Dr. John King in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 2. Brumberger claims he was contracted to work for Gulf Coast After Hours Urgent Care located at 441 Wall Blvd. in Gretna. The plaintiff alleges two checks in the amounts of $6,460 and $4,165 were issued to him for work he provided to the defendants, but they were later stolen and altered to be payable to another man. Brumberger asserts that he made a demand on the defendants to reimburse him in the amount of the stolen funds, but they did not make the requested payment even though the man who illegally endorsed the checks was successfully prosecuted in a criminal court.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

The plaintiff is seeking all sums due in the lawsuit.

Brumberger is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Bradley Egenberg.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.

Case no. 725-441.
