2856071 1

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local grocery store for injuries she claims to have received in a fall on its premises.

Emily Silvio filed suit against Breaux Mart Supermarkets Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 2.

Silvio claims she entered the Breaux Mart Supermarket on Jefferson Highway when she slipped and fell on a wet floor. The plaintiff alleges she received new injuries and aggravated existing injuries in the incident.

The defendant is accused of not knowing the floor was in hazardous condition, not exercising reasonable care to fix the hazardous situation, failing to remove the hazard and failing to maintain property in a reasonably safe condition.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain, mental anguish, disability, medical care, loss of life’s pleasures, wage loss and loss of earning capacity.

Silvio is represented by Stephen R. Rue of New Orleans-based Stephen R. Rue & Associates.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.

Case no. 725-537.
