Woman sues ex-employer for assault by former co-worker

L 1

GRETNA – A woman who used to be employed by a Harvey coffee shop is suing over an alleged assault by a co-worker during the course of employment.

Melissa L. Boudreaux filed suit against Corey Wilson, Robert J. Guidry, Parrot Pete’s Coffee & Sweets LLC and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 5.

Boudreaux claims she was working at Parrot Pete’s Coffee & Sweets when Wilson, the kitchen manager, asked to come with him saying he had something to show her and that after she followed him to the cooler area he pushed grabbed her by the back of the neck and pushed her head into the cooler. The plaintiff alleges the incident resulted in red marks, swelling and pain and discomfort. Wilson asserts she left work after the incident occurred and called the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office to pursue criminal charges against Wilson.

The defendant Wilson is accused of aggressively grabbing the plaintiff’s neck, shoving the plaintiff’s face into the cooler and causing her post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety as a direct result of the incident.

Guidry, as owner of Parrot Pete’s Coffee & Sweets, is accused of liability for the actions of his employee Wilson.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for personal injury, medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, post-traumatic stress, anxiety and loss of income.

Boudreaux is represented by attorney Max M. Chotto of Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.

Case no. 725-614.
