GRETNA – A Metairie commercial landlord is suing one of its tenants for allegedly breaking a lease agreement.
3501 North Causeway filed suit against Kensington Executive Suites of Metairie Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 15.
3501 North Causeway claims that Kensington signed a lease agreement with the building’s previous owner that was transferred during purchase. Under the lease contract the defendant extended the lease for five years and eight months beginning on July 1. 2010 with the monthly rent to be paid in advance. 3501 North Causeway alleges that Kensington failed to pay rent under the agreement and the lease was canceled on Oct. 19, 2012.
The defendant is accused of breach of contract.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for past due rent and alteration, repair and re-letting expenses.
3501 North Causeway is represented by attorney Martin L. Moran of Covington.
The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
