Contractors sue homeowner they claim did not fully pay for renovations

GRETNA – A Harvey homeowner is being sued by a pair of contractors who claim they were not paid for renovations they did on her home.

First Step LLC and Duncan’s Construction filed suit against Yvette Williams in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 17.  First Step LLC and Duncan’s Construction claim they were contracted by Williams for $50,000 to provide renovations her home. The plaintiffs claim the complete renovation cost $20,000 more than what the defendant paid them and that she has refused to pay the balance since.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract, failing to maintain accurate records, disregarding terms of the contract and failing to observe and recognize existing boundary lines.

Damages is in the amount of $20,000 are sought for monetary loss.

The plaintiffs are represented by Travis J. Turner of the Gonzales-based Turner Law Firm LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
