Family Dollar sued by woman who was allegedly injured in slip in detergent

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman is suing a discount retailer over claims that she was injured after slipping and falling in detergent that had been spilled on the floor.

Dorothy Jones filed suit against Family Dollar Stores of Louisiana Inc. and their insurer in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on June 28.

Jones claims she slipped in detergent which had spilled on the floor when visiting a Family Dollar Store on General Meyer Avenue.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain a reasonably safe place for its patrons, negligence and failing to maintain and supervise its premises properly.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering and medical expenses.

Jones is represented by Edward Womac of New Orleans-based Edward J. Womac Jr & Associates LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.

Case no 2013-06149.
