Willie Mae’s Scotch House sued by customer who allegedly slipped and fell on wet floor

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman is suing Willie Mae’s after she allegedly slipped and fell on wet floor while exiting the restaurant.

Keisha Woods filed suit against Willie Mae’s Scotch House LLC in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on July 24.

Woods claims that on or about July 24, 2012, she dined at Willie Mae’s on St. Ann Street in New Orleans. The plaintiff alleges that after finishing her meal, she was exiting the restaurant when suddenly and without warning she slipped and fell on the wet floor. Woods claims she sustained injuries to her lumbar spine and other structures of her body, mind and psyche.

The defendant is accused of negligence and allowing a hazardous condition to exist on its premises.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain, mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and any other damages to be shown at trial.

Woods is represented by attorney Charles E. Lavis Jr. of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.

Case no. 2013-6932.
