2 family dollar standingstore

NEW ORLEANS— A woman is suing a business for allegedly creating a dangerous environment after she slipped and fell in a puddle of liquid.

Gwendolyn Palmer filed suit against The Family Dollar Stores of LA Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 11.

The plaintiff claims that on Aug. 16, 2012 at approximately 7 p.m., she was walking in the Family Dollar Store at 2130 N. Claiborne Ave. when she fell on a clear puddle of liquid. Palmer alleges she received injuries to her hips, left leg, left knee and left foot due to unreasonably dangerous and defective conditions at the store.

The defendant is accused of breaching its duty to keep the premises clean, safe, and free from defects and hazards and for failing to use care under the circumstances.

An undisclosed amount is sought for mental anguish, physical suffering, medical treatment expenses and other economic and non-economic losses, plus the cost of the proceedings.

Gwendolyn Palmer is represented by attorneys at New Orleans-based Morris Bart LLC.

The case has been assigned to District D Judge Lloyd J. Medley.

Case no. 13-6472.
