Ponchatoula resident sues after slipping and falling on wet walkway

NEW ORLEANS - After slipping and falling on a wet walkway, a Ponchatoula resident has filed a lawsuit against a management company that operates the building and its walkway in Jefferson Parish.

Anne M. LeJeune filed suit against U.S. Specialty Insurance Co., West Esplanada Causeway Associates and Broadwall Management Corp. on Sept. 12 in federal court in New Orleans.

The alleged incident occurred on Feb. 4, 2013 after LeJeune was exiting the Causeway Plaza I. As LeJeune was proceeding on a walkway leading to the building’s parking garage, she slipped and fell on the surface of the rain-slickened walkway, the suit claims.

The defendants are accused of negligence for causing a defect or unreasonably dangerous condition in the walkway.

The plaintiff is seeking an award of damages for physical pain, mental anguish, emotional distress, medical expenses, disability, impairment, loss of earnings, loss of diminished earning capacity, loss of enjoyment of life and extreme nervousness, depression and anxiety,

U.S. District Judge Stanwood R. Duval Jr. is assigned to the case.
