Boost Mobile store sued by patron who sat on bench that collapsed beneath him

GRETNA – A local mobile phone store is being sued by a man who alleges he was injured after he sat on a bench that collapsed beneath him.

Calvin Turner filed suit against Naser Inc., Boost Mobile Oakwood LLC and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on August 23.

Turner claims he visited the Boost Mobile store located at 1401 Westbank Expressway in Westwego when he sat on a bench that collapsed beneath him. The plaintiff alleges he was violently thrown to the floor in the incident and was injured.

The defendant is accused of failing to provide safe and appropriate areas for patrons, failing to maintain the premises and failing to warn of unsafe conditions.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering, residual disability, property damage and loss of use.

Turner is represented by attorney Tim L. Fields of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.

Case no. 730-288.
