City of Kenner sued by man who was allegedly injured after stepping in storm drain

GRETNA – A local municipality is being sued by a man who claims to have been injured after stepping into an uncovered storm drain.

Robert J. Cronin filed suit against the City of Kenner in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 30.

Cronin claims that he was moving material from his flatbed truck onto his vehicle at Metal Studs located at 2306 Kingston St. in Kenner when he stepped into an uncovered storm drain in front of the property. The plaintiff alleges the property was defective, which resulted in his injuries. Cronin asserts he received severe and disabling injuries in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the storm drain in a reasonably safe condition, allowing an unreasonably dangerous condition to exist and failing to warn the petitioner of the danger.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, emotional distress, inconvenience, mental anguish and medical bills.

Cronin is represented by attorney James B. Guest of Kenner.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond A. Steib Jr.
