Home elevation companies suing woman they claim forced them from her property without pay

Jarret

GRETNA – A company that was contracted to lift a woman’s home is suing after its workers were allegedly forced of the site by the homeowner before the work was completed and paid for.

E.A. Keenan LLC and Crescent City Elevations filed suit against Ida Bourgeois in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 12.

E.A. Keenan LLC and Crescent City Elevations claim they were contracted to lift Bourgeois’ home located at 5209 Evans Drive in Marrero on May 24, 2012 and that 80 percent of the price of the $100,000 job would be paid to them through the Louisiana Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. The plaintiff alleges they found work done by subcontractors on the project was subpar and they contacted the defendant to alert the homeowner they would correct the deficiencies. E.A. Keenan LLC and Crescent City Elevations asserts that Bourgeois became frustrated with the workers at her home and forced them to leave the property with an estimated $5,000 in repairs needed to complete the job.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $20,000 is sought by the plaintiffs.

E.A. Keenan LLC and Crescent City Elevations are represented by Jarrett P. Ambeau of Baton Rouge-based The Ambeau Law Firm LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.

Case no. 730-984.
