GRETNA – An equipment supply company is suing companies they claim are responsible for damages to a crane leased to them that struck a bridge overpass when it was in transport.
Scott Equipment Company LLC filed suit against Anchor 36 LLC, DYRTT LLC and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 23.
Scott Equipment Company claims they own a crane that was being transported by the defendants on Sept. 27, 2012 at 3 p.m. when it struck the underside of a bridge or road sign. The plaintiff alleges that the crane was severely damaged in the incident and had to be repaired over 10 months during which time it could not be rented out.
The defendant is accused of not maintaining proper control of a vehicle, not maintaining a proper lookout, not driving a at a safe speed according to conditions surrounding them, failing to keep vehicle under proper control, failing to apply vehicle brakes at proper time and failing to take evasive action.
Damages in excess of $50,000 are sought for property damage, inconvenience and loss of revenue.
Scott Equipment Company is represented by Gregory Vidrine of Ville Platte-based Mahtook & Lafleur LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
