GRETNA – A patient of a nursing home claims that two of its employees mishandled her, causing her to break her leg.

Mable B. Martin filed suit against Jefferson Healthcare LLC and two unknown employees in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 18.

Martin alleges that she had been admitted to the Jefferson Healthcare facility located at 2200 Jefferson Highway in Jefferson after she had suffered a stroke. The plaintiff claims that two employees at the facility were helping her off of a toilet and into her wheelchair when they mishandled her and broke her leg.

The defendant is accused of carelessly handling the plaintiff, failing to follow the company directive in handling patients and failing to properly train employees.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for extreme pain and suffering, emotional anguish and mental distress.

Martin is represented by attorney Michael L. Mullin of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Ross P. LaDart.

Case no. 732-147.
