GRETNA – A local restaurant is being sued by a woman who claims she slipped on a recently cleaned floor.
Deborah T. Norred, and husband Marc, filed suit against New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 5.
Norred asserts that she was a customer at the New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Company at 1005 S. Clearview Parkway in Harahan on April 10 when she slipped and fell in the women’s bathroom. The plaintiff alleges the floor had just recently been cleaned with a degreaser solution after the toilet had overflowed, but there was no evidence of slipperiness because there was no standing water. Norred has had two prior neck and back surgeries and alleges that in the fall she immediately felt pain in her left arm and shoulder and has since been advised that the fall damaged existing hardware in her neck.
The defendant is accused of failing to properly maintain floors, failing to exercise reasonable care to premises free of hazardous conditions, failing to properly prevent and remove liquid substance on the floor and failing to properly warn its patrons of the existing hazard.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical and pharmaceutical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional stress, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of earnings, disability, impairment and loss of enjoyment of life.
