Man who allegedly fell and fractured hip at private event sues venue

GRETNA – A local venue is being sued by a man who allegedly fell during a private event and fractured his hip.

Herman Boudreaux Jr. filed suit against Balcony Enterprises Inc. and United Fire & Indemnity Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 7.

Boudreaux alleges he was attending a private party at The Balcony at 4738 Utica St. in Metairie when he slipped and fell. The plaintiff asserts he was seriously injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to provide adequate lighting in the room where the incident occurred, preparing the subject floor in a manner that would leave it slippery and slick, situating chairs and tables in a negligent manner, failing to take actions to provide a safe floor on which to walk and failing to do what should have been done under the circumstances.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for fractured hip, bodily injury, permanent injuries, pain and suffering, mental anguish and medical expenses.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Brown Jr.
