NEW ORLEANS – A Harrah’s employee who fell and broke her ankle in the parking lot which Hilton leases to Harrah’s employees is suing.
Farrah Holloway Baylor filed suit against Hilton Worldwide, Inc. and Hilton New Orleans and Hilton New Orleans Riverside in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
The suit states that on Oct. 26, 2012, the plaintiff was an employee at Harrah’s Casino New Orleans, and had parked her car in the Hilton parking lot designated for use by Harrah’s employees.
After the plaintiff parked her car and was approaching the pedestrian exit of the parking lot, she stepped on broken, uneven pavement and pieces of cement/rocks, which caused her to fall. As a result of the fall, she broke her ankle.
The injury has required surgery, including hardware to repair the break and surgery to remove the hardware, as well as various soft tissue injuries, the suit claims.
The defendant is accused of failing to properly transition a change in walkway level, allowing a defect on the premises of which defendant had actual notice, failing to maintain a safe passageway, failing to inspect for defects in the premises, failing to warn and being otherwise negligent.
The plaintiff seeks an unspecified amount in damages for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, embarrassment and distress, medical expenses, residual disabilities and disfigurement, loss of earnings and earning capacity and loss of enjoyment of life.
