GRETNA – A woman who claims she was injured after she slipped and fell on raw sewage that backed up into her home is suing her sewer service provider.
Linda Lacourt filed suit against Consolidated Sewerage District No. 1 in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 22.
Lacourt claims that in the early morning hours of Aug. 26, 2013 the sewerage system operated by Consolidated Sewerage District No. 1 backed up in her home resulting in sewage bubbling up out of her bathroom fixtures and accumulating on her floor. The plaintiff alleges that when she entered the bathroom she slipped and fell on the sewage. Lacourt asserts she received injuries in the incident.
The defendant is accused of liability for the plaintiff’s damages.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for injury, legal interest, court costs and attorney's fees.
Lacourt is represented by attorney Joseph R. McMahon of Metairie.
The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
