GRETNA – A woman who was touring a home for a potential purchase is suing its owners after she was injured in a fall on the property.
Sally Pirfo filed suit against Vicki Fank in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 28.
Pirfo asserts that on Jan. 13 she was visiting Fank’s home located at 3215 White St. in Metairie when she was stepping down a stairway and fell backwards onto the stairs. The plaintiff claims she received serious injuries to her back, neck, hip, shoulder and left hand in the fall.
The defendant is accused of failing to warn the of the slippery stairway, failing to maintain the stairway in a reasonably safe and non-slippery condition, failing to equip the stairway with handrails or similar devices and painting the steps with a substance that would cause the steps to become slippery when wet.
The plaintiff is seeking compensation for all damages and the cost of legal proceedings.
