GRETNA – A roofer is suing the owner of a building he was working on after he was allegedly injured after falling through a skylight that had been painted the same color as the roof.
Robert Collins, and wife Amanda, filed suit against Hero Wall Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 8.
Collins alleges he was working on the roof of a building owned by Hero Wall Company located at 3700 Vonnie Drive in Harvey when he fell through a skylight that had been painted the same color as the roof on top of the property and landed violently on the ground below. The plaintiff asserts he suffered and continues to suffer multiple injuries, including to his psyche, due to the incident.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the roof of the property, failing to safeguard the premises to protect the plaintiff, failing to warn of the location of the skylight, failing to discover and correct dangerous conditions, failing to properly inspect the premises and painting over the skylight so as to make it indistinguishable from the surrounding area.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and discomfort, mental anguish, aggravation, annoyance, disability, mental anguish, medical expenses, lost wages, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of use of parts of body, bodily disability, impairment of psychological functioning, disability, destruction of earning capacity and disability from engaging in recreation.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
