GRETNA – A electrical wholesale company is suing a man who alleges he was injured when a 900 pound bundle of wire fell on him.
Michael Johnson Jr. filed suit against Nu-Lite Electrical Wholesalers LLC and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 30.
Johnson asserts that on Feb. 20 he was making a delivery to Nu-Lite Electrical Wholesalers located at 850 Edwards Ave. in Harahan when employees working there were unloading a 900 pound bundle of aluminum wire when it was dropped on him. The plaintiff claims that in no way did he contribute to the situation. Johnson alleges his left arm, right shin and right foot were injured in the incident.
The defendant is accused of failing to keep the premises clean and safe, failing to keep the premises free of hazardous conditions, failing to warn of potential unsafe conditions, having constructive or actual knowledge and not properly warning of the hazardous condition, failing to remove the hazardous condition and failing to properly warn of the hazard.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and anguish, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life and lost wages.
Johnson is represented by Scott M. Emonet of the Baton Rouge-based Murphy Law Firm.
The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
