NEW ORLEANS – A former employee of The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad has filed suit claiming he was unfairly treated by being terminated from the company.
Charles Jones Jr. filed suit against The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 11.
The plaintiff claims he was wrongfully terminated by his employer, the defendant. Jones asserts that white employees have committed the same violation or have committed more serious violations that did not result in their termination, but instead received lesser punishment. The plaintiff purports that one white employee had four DWI’s and totaled a company car, but did not receive the same punishment that the plaintiff received. Jones also claims he did not violate the procedure that the defendant claims he did as a cause for his termination.
The defendant is accused of wrongfully terminating the plaintiff as an employee.
The plaintiff is seeking an unknown amount in damages for severe emotional distress, humiliation, embarrassment, mental anguish and other equitable relief.
