GRETNA – A local daycare provider is being sued by parents of an infant daughter they claim was injured by being shaken.
Chad McDaniel and Candice Thibodeaux McDaniel, individually and on behalf of their minor daughter, filed suit against Sherry B. Savois and Daniel G. Savois in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 5.
The McDaniels contend they contracted Sherry B. Savois, who ran a daycare out of her home at 2600 Lafayette Street in Gretna, to take care of their eight-week old daughter while they went to work. On Aug. 16, 2013 the plaintiffs assert their daughter was injured in the defendants’ home.
The defendants are accused of negligent mistreatment of a juvenile, negligent shaking and injuring a minor child, failing to properly exercise the highest degree of care as a childcare provider, failing to properly supervise minor children and causing physical, mental and emotional harm to a juvenile.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, permanent disability, cognitive deficits, regression in development, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, humiliation, medial assessment, treatment expenses, retardation of development and rehabilitation expenses.
The McDaniels are represented by David L. Colvin of the Gretna-based Colvin Law Firm and Christine F. Remy of Gretna-based Remy Law Firm.
The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robert A. Pitre Jr.
