Electrician, contractor sued by property insurer over sushi restaurant fire that caused $149K in damage

GRETNA – An electrician and contractor are being sued by a property insurer who claims an overloaded a circuit board that caused a fire at a sushi restaurant.

Companion Property and Casualty Insurance Company filed suit against Anthony Rosevally, Rosevally Electric LLC, Clifton B. Williams and Williams Contractors & Construction Services LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 18.

The plaintiff asserts that the defendant installed a circuit board in the bar area of the Little Tokyo sushi restaurant located at 4704 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie that led to a fire at the establishment on Aug. 8. Companion Property and Casualty Insurance Company claims Williams Contractors was hired as a general contractor to work on the property and they in turn hired Rosevally and Rosevally Electric, who provided the work on the panel in question, as a subcontractor.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

Damages in the amount of $149,029.72 are sought for property damage and loss of business income.

Companion Property and Casualty Insurance Company is represented by William A. Repaske of New Iberia-based Landry, Watkins, Repaske & Breaux.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
