NEW ORLEANS- A Louisiana corporation is suing Lloyd's of London for allegedly failing to pay for damages incurred to Majestic Oaks Apartments as a result of Hurricane Isaac.
HRC Investments filed suit against Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's London in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 25.
HRC claims that on Aug. 29, 2012, it held an insurance policy with Lloyd's covering HRC's premises at 6235 Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans. The plaintiff alleges that this is the location of the Majestic Oaks Apartments.
According to the suit, Hurricane Isaac caused significant damage to Majestic Oaks Apartments on Aug. 29, 2012. HRC asserts that it entered into the appraisal process with Lloyd's, after which HRC was issued an award.
The defendant is accused of failing to pay HRC its award in a timely manner as required by the appraisal process.
The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, together with legal interest and court costs.

The case has been assigned to District G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
